This product was reasonably priced, and fit my Dell Inspiron 1501 perfectly. Removing the old one was no problem--as another reviewer said, just open the tray before you shut down your laptop, and you can pull the whole thing out with very little effort. When this new one arrived, all I had to do was push it into the plug-in, and it was good to go. Booted right up, was recognized by my Windows Vista immediately, and didn't need any driver downloads or anything.
Also, the seller I ordered it from was super-fast. I ordered on Friday and had it in my hand Monday afternoon.
The burner works just fine. It's dual-layer, which I'm not familiar with, but will be experimenting with soon. As for speed of burn, it's good. My old burner had died, basically, and wouldn't even read a blank disc anymore, so I'm thrilled with this one that reads them no problem and starts the burn promptly!
I can recommend this product and seller to everyone. Good bang for the buck!
