As an owner of other Energy speakers and a huge fan of the Energy RC series, I decided to take a chance on a pair of these CF-30's speakers for a smaller home theater setup in another room of ours. At first the CF-30s did sound a little bright, but after playing around with the MCACC calibration settings on my Pioneer Elite VSX-23THX, I ended up loving the sound of these speakers. I had them paired up with a CC-10 center and CB-10's for surround wides and they worked so well and I was loving my second home theater almost as much as my other home theater that features RC-50's and RC-30's.
I ended up recently finding a great deal on some CF-70's, so now I have those for fronts and moved the CF-30's to surround wides. I still highly recommend these speakers to anyone starting out on their first home theater or people on a budget who will get great Energy sounding speakers for a great low price.
The only con that I could think of, was that the Energy CF speakers quality build is not on par with the RC series. The CF's are lighter and feel a little cheaper than their RC and C-series Energy predecessors, but the Energy sound quality is still there and that's why I think the CF-30s still deserve their five stars.
