This review is from: APPLE MacBook MacBook Pro GSA-S10N DVD?RW/DL/RAM DVD-RW Super Multi Burner Rewriter Recorder Drive by HL (Electronics)
I bought this unit from PowerOptical. The first unit shipped was Apple-compatible (LG brand) but not Apple-branded as per the product description. I was purchasing the unit to put in a friend's aluminum iMac to replace an out-of-warranty failure. There were time constraints, so I decided to go with the unit that was shipped, even though technically it did not meet spec.

This was a mistake. The unit malperformed in the area of disc acquisition and ejection. I called PowerOptical and we worked out that I would buy a second unit (this time Apple branded) and they would refund my money for the first unit when they got it. They sent me a free shipping label. I found them to be communicative, accessible, and reasonably pro-active in getting this problem solved.

The second unit arrive, installed fine, and has worked perfectly according to my friend, so I'm satisfied.

If you use this for an Apple repair and buy from PowerOptical, just make sure you insist on an Apple-branded unit.
