Let me start by saying I consider myself an audiophile that listens to a range of genres. I have huge Pioneer SE-DJ5000s for when I am DJing or on long road trips, but I wanted something small, lightweight, and very portable and affordable without sacrificing sound quality (mostly for commuting and wearing around the city). I really do think these PX-200 IIs are just that.

I first bought a set of PX-100s about 5 years ago. I absolutely loved these and I abused them everyday. Everything from the highs to the lows was excellent. Finally, just a few weeks ago, one channel started cutting out when the cord bent one way. I decided it was time for a new set, and I went with the PX-200 IIs.

I would say the PX-200 IIs provide about the same exact sound quality as I got from my PX-100s, but of course now I have excellent sound isolations as well, in addition to a few other features (the single cord and volume adjuster are invaluable, thin profile jack, and extremely durable design).

The only thing I was afraid of when buying these was all the reviews saying the bass is sub-par. I quickly realized just one day after using these that it all depends on how you wear them on your head. You must achieve optimal sound isolation in order to hear the deep bass these tiny little things can pump out. After adjusting them just right (for me, the smallest setting, I have a small head), I immediately heard the deep bass that I was used to with my PX-100s. Do not listen to reviewers that say these are bass-weak. It's not true. I think a lot of headphones overdo the bass, which is not what is intended by the artist or during the mastering process. These provide the RIGHT amount of bass. The mids and highs are also excellent, of course.

I was debating between these and the comparable AKGs (can't remember the name). The PX-200 IIs provide better features and similar sound, without the severe discomfort you get that almost every review says for the AKGs.

I listen to primarily jazz, house, deep house, disco, techno, and indie rock. I have no complains with the PX-200 IIs with any of these types of music. With all the dance music I listen to, I need something that can handle rigorous bass demands, and these headphones definitely live up to that. The sound isolation is phenomenal for such a small profile design, and like I said earlier, you just have to make sure you have these positioned on your ears in exactly the right way.

All the good things that these reviews point out are true. These are amazing headphones. I really feel like all the comments that the bass is weak are just inaccurate. If you like your music to be unnaturaly flooded with bass so that the idea intended behind the music is distorted, do not buy these. If you like a clean sound with balanced lows, mids, and highs across a variety of genres, these are for you.
