This is the quintessential vietnam-era fighting knife. Thanks to Gerber for putting it back on the market, as it had been dicountinued for several years...and the prices for new-in-box and used ones alike on e-bay was well over 150.00 and up. This opportunity allows you to aquire one of these knives at a bargain price (considering what they were going for on e-bay)and new from the manufacturer. My only complaint is the nylon scabbard...I'd have preferred the traditinal leather type, but I'll not complain much. I'm just happy to have found them back on the market...and Gerber may decide to stop production again - who knows? The blade serrations are only a distraction to make it fit the "survival knife" niche, because this is a purely a fighting knife to carry into combat/use for self-defense; you'll not be prying open 55 gallon drums with this one, like some Cold Steel offerings, but it is what it is: a Gerber MKII! A true classic.
