It’s the heaviest Kukri on the market. The blade is almost an inch wider near the tip than at the handle, shifting the knife’s balance point forward to allow a substantial blow to be struck with minimal effort, using inertia alone to complete the cut.

This review is from: Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri Kraton Handle (Sports)
I loved it at first. I loved the other reviews. First task I did was grab a piece of lumber and showed some friends how it could do some good chopping. Keep in mind this was a soft, processed piece of wood. I hacked away at the 1x4 and made a pretty cool wooden stake. Makes sense right? Kurki provides Zombie protection, but what are you gonna do when the Vampires come for you? Gotta have a wooden stake ready.
In all seriousness though, after chopping pretty quickly through the piece of wood I noticed some nicks in the blade. Fairly significant, but not enough to be chunks. Maybe like 1mm and there were like 4 of them. I was disappointed in what is supposed to be a pretty tough blade. Still it was sharp and chopped like a champ. And the nicks were 99% gone once I sharpened it.
Then for a 2 weeks I ended up using this baby as a camp knife. We unfortunately didn't bring our knife set with us... (doh!). So after the initial chopping it never got used for anything but chopping onions, lettuce, chicken, carrots, etc. It took a little getting used to, but once you got the technique down it actually worked well. Then just today I noticed the blade and the handle had a slight wobble. Enough that when you picked it up you could feel a slight shift as the blade settled to one side inside the handle.
I called up Cold Steel and they told me they told me to return it to Amazon. So that's what I did today. Hopefully, my refund comes through and I can buy another one. I wanted to like this knife, and when I get another one I hope I'll like it as much as I should. Maybe mine was just a fluke. I'll update this review in a month or so after the refund/repurchase and I get some further use out of the next one.
Until then, if you want my opinion, I'd say buyer-beware. And be prepared to give your knife a good workout (such as doing the heavy task of cutting through soft, fresh pine 1x4s and onions) to see if it will hold up.
