I have purchased Viking products and have had to baby the Designer I, the SE is all right, but the Diamond is the ultimate in corporate irrelevance excessively burdening its customers. For the generation of us who grew up with sewing machines that did their job, it is all too frustrating to pay out automobile prices for a ditzy little machine that has to be coddled along to do the simplest functions required of it, as it was manufactured and sold as a sewing machine. Viking tops the industry in their expectation that a customer will just be happy to have one, and might even be willing to take in their new black hole baby every 30 hours of sewing for a 'tune-up' finding top thread problems, feed dog differential problems, etc., and having Viking make reasonable sounding excuses for the machine, which really aren't since Viking has failed in the first place to improve upon a sewing machine. They have added so many half assed extras, it disguises the fact that the machine produces home-styled machine stitches and no matter how much profesionnal sewing techniques are applied, the garment will look like it was sewed in someone's home on their home machine.
