I've been playing an sx for about four years and decided to step up a bit . I couldn't afford a thousand dollar bass so after checking out my option in short scale basses I decided on this one(i also got the case which i recomend) The first thing I noticed when it arrived was the kinda flimsy packaging and thought it might be D.O.A. and I would be sending it back. This was not the case though and it was a box in a box type setup so after opening the second box I got to see the "axe". It really looks nicer than the pics, which are awesome, I picked it up and it felt like a real instrument not like my cheaper bass, which was adequate though. I noticed it's definately lighter and feels more balanced. I plugged it in and started playing, nice action at the top and equally nice down by the body where as my old bass was a bit harder to play due to the fact that the neck warped and made the action higher. The neck and strings are much more parallel on this bass than on the prior. The twin volume knobs work and feel sturdy and the tone knob actually changes the tone whereas on my sx it didn't do too much. The case is also nice and you literally have to "squeeze" the bass in it's such a perfect fit.
I played it at 2 live shows friday and saturday in athens, ga and it was much easier to more aound the fretboard and tookless energy so I wasn't as worn out. If you don't have a lot o' dough this is a really well made, beautful, instrument.
